Trekking the far, northern reaches of Upper Dolpo

neighboring region of Mustang, Upper Dolpa's unique
desert/mountain terrain is home to many famous
Buddhist gumbas, including Shey Gumba found at a
breathtaking 4200meters. Heading northwest from
Jomsom your trek crosses into this restricted area
at Kagbeni and continues through to Ring- Mo Lake
(3600m) in Shey Phoksumdo National Park.
On
route, you can relax in natural hot springs, explore
ancient caves and keep a watchful eye out for Blue
sheep and the exotic snow leopard. Upper Dolpa's
pristine grandeur and rich history offer the
adventurous trekker a destination beyond compare.
Dolpo Shey Gompa Trek
Shey Gomba is Name of the famous Ministries in north
western part of Nepal. This is located northern part

Lower Dolpo Trek

snow leopards, Himalayan tahr (mountain goat) and
blue sheep. A great Naturalist Rodney Jackson
conducted his research on snow leopards in Shey
Phoksundo area. Mother Nature created a unique and
wonderful treasurer like Dolpo, which is being the
shelter of many rare alpine living beings. In spite
of tough trails and rugged topography journey to
Dolpo area is a life time experience. Tourists
rarely visit Dolpo Region and the trekking route is
very narrow and steep at places, so good hiking
experience is essential for this trek.
